About us

Biography

The Utrecht Piano Trio, consisting of Lisa Angelia Tanto (piano, from Indonesia), Maria Soeiro (cello, from Portugal), and Leonoor van de Merwe (violin, from the Netherlands), was founded at the Utrecht Conservatory in 2021. The trio immediately received widespread recognition and was invited to perform at the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), TivoliVredenburg (Utrecht), Concertgebouw de Vereeniging (Nijmegen), Theater Orpheus (Apeldoorn), Willem Twee Toonzaal (Den Bosch), Utrecht City Hall, the Woudkapel (Bilthoven), and other venues throughout the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, and Portugal.

 

The Utrecht Piano Trio won first prize at the Concurs Internacional de Música de Cambra de Godella (Spain) 2025, third prize at the International Music Competition Triomphe de l’Art 2024 in Brussels, and third prize at the Gelre Chamber Music Competition 2023.

 

The ensemble is a member of the Dutch String Quartet Academy (NSKA), received scholarships to participate in the chamber music festival Aula de Cámara Airas Nunes in Santiago de Compostella (Spain) and the Davidsbündler Music Academy in the Netherlands, and participated in the Meisterakademie of the Konz Musik Festival in Germany. Recently, Beethoven’s Triple Concerto was performed with the Rotterdam Young Talent Orchestra conducted by Mikhail Zemtsov.

 

The trio took lessons and masterclasses with Lukas Hagen (Hagen Quartet), Gregor Sigl (Artemis Quartett), Gerhard Schulz (Alban Berg Quartett), Pavel Jonáš Krejčí (Pražák Quartet), Marc Danel, Gilles Millet, and Yovan Markovitch (Quatuor Danel), Luc-Marie Aguera (Ysaÿe Quartet), Johannes Meissl (Artis Quartet), Petr Prause (Talich Quartet), the Storioni Trio, the Busch Trio, Xavier Gagnepain (Rosamunde Quartet), Sebastian Koloski (Utrecht String Quartet), Joris van Rijn (Ruysdael Quartet), Niall Brown, Anna Zassimova, Andreas Frölich, Denis Brott, and Joseph Moog.
