Biography
The Utrecht Piano Trio, consisting of Lisa Angelia Tanto (piano, from Indonesia), Maria Soeiro (cello, from Portugal), and Leonoor van de Merwe (violin, from the Netherlands), was founded in 2021 at the Utrecht Conservatory, and is a member of the Netherlands String Quartet Academy (NSKA). The trio won the first prize at the Concurs Internacional de Música de Cambra de Godella (Spain) 2025, third prize at the International Music Competition Triomphe de l’Art 2024 in Brussels, and third prize at the Gelre Chamber Music Competition 2023 (Netherlands). In 2024, the trio performed Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with the Rotterdam Young Talent Orchestra, conducted by Mikhail Zemtsov.
The Utrecht Piano Trio has since received much recognition and was invited to perform at the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), TivoliVredenburg (Utrecht), Concertgebouw de Vereeniging (Nijmegen), Theater Orpheus (Apeldoorn), and other venues throughout the Netherlands, Germany, Spain and Portugal.
The ensemble received scholarships to participate in the chamber music festival Aula de Cámara Airas Nunes in Santiago de Compostela (Spain) and in the Davidsbündler Music Academy in the Netherlands, and participated in the Meisterakademie of the Konz Musik Festival in Germany. The trio has taken masterclasses with Lukas Hagen (Hagen Quartet), Gregor Sigl (Artemis Quartett), Gerhard Schulz (Alban Berg Quartett), Pierre Colombet (Quatuor Ébène), Pavel Jonáš Krejčí (Pražák Quartet), Marc Danel (Quatuor Danel), the Storioni Trio, the Busch Trio, Shunske Sato, Luc-Marie Aguera (Ysaÿe Quartet), Johannes Meissl (Artis-Quartett), Petr Prause (Talich Quartet), John Myerscough and Ying Xue (Doric Quartet), Xavier Gagnepain (Rosamunde Quartett), Sebastian Koloski (Utrecht String Quartet) and Joris van Rijn (Ruysdael Kwartet), among others.
